Allison Chambers Featured in the Floral Editorial for May

Allison Chambers discusses her works with artGuide

Allison Chambers, Sweet Dreams, 2017, oil on canvas, 40"x40"

artGuide art news blog featured Charlotte artist, Allison Chambers, in this month's editorial on floral pieces. Based out of North Carolina, Allison strives to create abstract pieces of life.

Allison is originally from Wilmington, N.C. but has lived in Charlotte much of her life and has had a successful career in painting faux finishes and murals. In 2007, life changed a lot! She married her husband, Jay, and went from a Mom of 2 to a Mom of 6 (5 girls!) She then began studying oils under the renowned Andy Braitman. This is how she discovered my true passion and my therapy. In 2009, Allison became an artist in residence at Braitman Studio . This led her to a full time career in fine art and to becoming a teacher in the medium of oils.

She has also studied under many wonderful artists such as Curt Butler, Nancy Franke and the late Ken Auster among others.

Allison creates color and texture driven paintings on a medium to large scale and her work has an impasto style. She uses a palette knife liberally and appreciate beautiful brushstrokes and her aesthetic tends to combine all of these elements. It is a joy and a challenge to experiment with color and she does so by switching from a full palette to a limited palette. Her goal is to create an abstracted interpretation of life.
