June 13 – 19 | LOOK3 will once again transform historic downtown Charlottesville into a vibrant art space with artist talks, exhibitions, educational programming, outdoor projections, and free community events. For those who love the still image, Charlottesville’s LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph is the only place to be this summer. From June 13th-19th, Festival goers will have the rare opportunity to see and hear from an international roster of eleven featured artists, participate in enhanced educational programs, visit world-class exhibitions, attend outdoor projections, and engage in free photography-related community events. This year, LOOK3 celebrates the lives and work of featured artists NICK BRANDT, GRACIELA ITURBIDE, YURI KOZYREV, FRANS LANTING, OLIVIA BEE, SHEILA PREE BRIGHT, MARY F. CALVERT, BINH DANH, DOUG DUBOIS, RADICLIFFE “RUDDY” ROYE, and JOE RIIS. These artists represent the most diverse line-up in the history of the Festival and will inspire attendees with visual storytelling from around the globe. In addition, an expanded educational program offers seminars emphasizing creativity and entrepreneurism for photographers at all levels of accomplishment. LOOK3 EDU kicks off on June 14th, with the Photo District News: 30 Emerging Photographers Panel, which is free and open to the public. The program continues on June 15th and 16th with Creativity Meets Technology and Artists Meet your Markets + LOOK3 PITCH seminars. Combined LOOK3 EDU + Artist Talks passes are available at a discounted price. The popular Evening Projections on Friday, June 17th at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion is free and will feature shows curated by the photo editors of TIME Magazine. On Saturday, June 18th, the Evening Projections shows will be presented by MediaStorm at the outdoor IX Art Detailsand tickets at look3.org and theparamount.net.
